GARY'S GARDEN TIPS // AUGUST 10, 2013
If your lawn has a slight lemon yellow color mixed through the green, then I would recommend applying "Super Iron Green" or "Iron Rich" to the area. These are iron supplements that help give that dark green color to the yard.
Yellow leaves on trees and shrubs can also mean that adding iron to the drip line will help the health of the plant. Granules for the lawn don't work for deeper rooted plants. Apply a chelated iron called "Feri-Plus." This iron is available to the plant without having to worry about getting tied up in the soil.
Spurge is a weed that grows quickly through the grass this time of year with warm temperatures and moist conditions. Spray "Weed Free Zone" on the weeds for quick results. This product hast to be on the weed for only 4 hours to kill it. Most of the nice rains we have had will occur in the afternoon so spray early morning to get better results.
Toadstools will sprout up in lawns which is caused by old tree roots, or other organic material. These are not harmful to the lawn, but are unsightly. Hand pick or run the lawn mower over them.
