GARY'S GARDEN TIPS // JUNE 3, 2013
If you have a bluegrass lawn and are being invaded with Bermuda grass, then start spraying with "Turflon Esther". Spray every 30 days: June, July, Aug, and Sept. Then re-seed in Oct. This product will not hurt bluegrass, but kills the Bermuda.
Lady bugs and preying mantids have arrived. Both of these insects eat other insects that can be damaging to plants. The lady bugs are live, and the mantids are in casings that will hatch later. There is still plenty of time to plant flowers and vegetable. There is plenty of selection to choose from.
It's time to re-apply pre-emergent to the lawns to keep the weeds down through the late part of summer. Lawns also need to be re-fed to help them keep their healthy roots and green color. "Greenmaster" is still my first choice.
Thank you to all of our customers for the great spring, we will now be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
